Every Morning, the Coffee Is Already Cold

She does not submit the exemption.
She thinks about it for six hours. She walks the long way home. She sits on a bench in the Kalder transit plaza and watches the afternoon crowd move through its patterns, and she lets herself feel it one last time — the gentle, ghostly arrival of each moment before it lands.

She does not know if the feeling is grief or relief.
